At Start Solar, we are committed to helping businesses, farms, schools, community centers, and non-profit organisations in Ireland harness the power of solar energy. As part of our dedication to sustainable energy solutions, we want to inform you about the Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) offered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

This grant provides financial assistance to support the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, enabling you to generate electricity on-site and enjoy the benefits of clean, renewable energy.

About the NDMG Grant

The NDMG Grant is designed to help businesses and various sectors embrace solar PV technology. By installing solar panels, you can reduce your commercial electricity costs, enhance energy security, and establish a positive sustainability image. The grant funding is available for solar PV systems with a maximum capacity of 1000kWp.

Benefits of Choosing Solar PV

Solar PV systems offer numerous advantages for businesses and organisations

Cost Savings

By generating your own electricity from solar PV panels, you can significantly reduce your electricity costs over time, resulting in long-term financial savings.

Sustainability Commitment

Embracing solar energy demonstrates your dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. It allows you to contribute to Ireland’s climate goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Government Grant Aid

Through the NDMG grant, you can receive financial support from the government for the installation of your solar PV system. Grant amounts are determined based on the standard output of your system

Grant Amounts for Solar PV Systems

The grant amount you can receive for your solar PV system depends on its output capacity. Here are the grant values according to system size

System Size Grant Value
1kWp €900
2kWp €1,800
3kWp €2,100
4kWp €2,400
5kWp €2,400
6kWp €2,400
7kWp 20kWp: €300/kWp
21kWp 200kWp: €200/kWp
201kWp 1000kWp (1MWp): €150/kWp

*kWp refers to the standard test output of a PV panel.

How to Apply

To apply for the NDMG grant, follow these steps

Step1: Find and appoint a Registered SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen (Solar PV) Company

Obtain quotes from at least two registered companies. You can find a list of registered companies on the SEAI website.

Step2: Apply to SEAI for a Grant Offer

Submit your grant application online and wait for your “letter of offer” before proceeding with the installation. Ensure that your bank details are accurate to avoid delays in grant payment.

Step3: Your Company Applies to ESB Networks

Your chosen installer must apply to ESB Networks to connect your solar PV system to the electricity network. This application should be made before the installation, and the process takes approximately four weeks.

Step4: Install the Solar PV System

Once ESB Networks approves the connection, your installer can proceed with the installation. Make the necessary payment agreements with the solar PV company.

Step5: Your Company Submits Evidence to SEAI

Your solar PV company will provide you with the required documentation for the installation. They will also submit copies of the documents electronically to SEAI.

Step6: SEAI Processes the Grant Offer

Grant payments can only be processed once SEAI receives all the required documentation. Please allow four to six weeks for payment processing, with additional time if an inspection is required.
